Natalie Barney

She is best known for the courage she displayed during the Victorian period, openly celebrating her love of women. She was a rebel writer and poet who brought together writers and artists from around the world at her salon on the Paris left bank. She worked to promote writing by women for women. She published love poems to women as early as 1900 and had a long relationship with the painter Romaine Brooks.
